Tunisia SIM card or eSIM from the UK: roaming costs on a package holiday
In short
You have four ways to stay connected in Tunisia: your UK network, a travel eSIM, a local Tunisian SIM card or a pocket Wi-Fi. EE charges £39.50 for a 7-day pass there (checked on 24 October 2026, EE price guide, 31 March 2026). Our Tunisia eSIM from the UK is £2.99 for 1 GB over 7 days, data only.

This site is not affiliated with any of the networks mentioned here; we sell eSIMs. How we compare
On package holidays (Hammamet, Sousse, Djerba) no Europe pass applies: Tunisia is outside every UK Europe zone. You may not need an eSIM. Three Complete plans include Tunisia, Sky VIP Diamond customers roam there free, and other Sky customers pay £2 a day (checked on 24 October 2026). Left on its normal settings, a phone by the hotel pool bills by the day or the MB.
What do UK networks charge in Tunisia?
Roaming in Tunisia on UK networks costs from £2 a day on Sky and £39.50 for 7 days on EE to £7.50 per MB on Asda (checked on 24 October 2026). Every UK network puts Tunisia outside Europe, and six of them charge it per MB.
| Option | Price | What you need | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roaming on your UK network | £2.00 to £84.00 a day or pass from about £1.75 per GB | Data roaming on; on some networks a pass bought before you fly | Paid passes cost more per GB than the eSIM |
| Pocket Wi-Fi router | Not verified | Collect it, keep it charged and return it | One connection for the group, only while you stay together |
| Local SIM bought on arrival | Not verified | A free SIM slot and a shop after landing | On a one-slot phone it replaces your UK SIM |
| Travel eSIM from this site | from £2.99 by card; from £0.80 per GB | An eSIM phone that is not locked to one operator | Data only: no calls or texts on your UK number |
Roaming prices as published by the 15 UK networks, checked on 24 October 2026; price per GB is our derivation (price ÷ GB). eSIM prices are in pounds at the day’s rate: your card is charged exactly that amount. This site is not affiliated with these networks; we sell eSIMs.
| UK network | What it charges for Tunisia | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| EE | £8 for 24 hours, £39.50 for 7 days | Rest of World Zone 2, pay monthly and SIM only; the pass runs 24 hours from purchase; without one, no data, calls £2.46 a minute, texts 98p (EE price guide) |

| Sky Mobile | £2 a day | Roaming Passport Plus: a call you make, a text you send or more than 10MB starts 24 hours; free for Sky VIP Diamond (Sky roaming) |
| O2 | 100MB £26, 500MB £45, 1GB £65 | Zone 3 Data Roaming Bolt On, pay monthly only; calls £3 a minute made or received, texts £1 (O2 Bolt Ons) |
| Talkmobile | £1.20 per MB | Zone C, no Booster covers it (Talkmobile Booster details) |
| VOXI | £1.20 per MB | ROW3, from credit; VOXI’s wording is unclear, so check its page (VOXI charges) |

| Tesco Mobile | £5 per MB | Region 4, pay monthly and pay as you go (Tesco Mobile roaming) |
| Asda Mobile | £7.50 per MB | World Group 2 (Asda Mobile roaming) |
| BT Mobile | no figure printed | Roaming Zone 5; BT’s own pages conflict, so check its page (BT Travel Data Pass) |
A per-MB rate runs up fast. Our arithmetic: 100MB at Asda’s £7.50 is £750, and at Tesco’s or giffgaff’s £5 it is £500.
eSIM for Tunisia: selected plans
The entry plan, our pick and a bigger one. “Our pick” is a mid-size plan chosen by us, not a sales ranking.
Prices are in pounds; you are charged in GBP, exactly the amount shown. The seller is registered in the United States, so your bank may apply its own rules to a payment to a seller abroad — how card payment works. It appears on your statement as JET SHARING. You pay on the secure Stripe checkout page, by card, or Apple Pay or Google Pay if Stripe shows them on your device.
What it costs per day
Plan price in pounds ÷ days, at the rate of 1 Nov. A longer plan usually costs less per day: pick by your trip length, not by the lowest daily price.
A week on a package holiday: the sums
Seven days of use in Tunisia come to £39.50 on EE, £42 on Three and £14 on Sky (our arithmetic, checked on 24 October 2026). Our 1 GB plan covers 7 days for £2.99, data only.
| Network or plan | 7 days of use | 14 days of use | How we added it up |
|---|---|---|---|
| EE, Zone 2 | £39.50 | £79 | one or two weekly passes |
| Three, Lite and Lite+ from 18 December 2025 | £42 | £84 | 7-day or 14-day pass |
| Sky, not VIP Diamond | £14 | £28 | £2 a day of use |
| Our Tunisia plan, data only | 1 GB, £2.99 | 5 GB, £6.99 | 7-day plan; for two weeks, one 30-day plan |
The prices are the networks’; the totals are ours. EE, Three and Sky use your UK allowance on your number. Our plans are data only, on a second line.
Data per day, our arithmetic: 1 GB over 7 days is about 140MB a day, 5 GB over 30 days about 170MB, and 10 GB over 30 days, £9.99, about 330MB. Check your phone’s mobile data counter for a week at home first: that beats any estimate.
Hotel Wi-Fi is not a plan: it does not reach the transfer coach or the beach. If an install fails, message us on WhatsApp; it works over hotel Wi-Fi.
Tunisian SIM card or eSIM?
Tunisia SIM card vs eSIM comes down to your UK number. A local Tunisian SIM replaces your UK SIM in a single-SIM phone, so bank passcodes sent to your UK number stop arriving; an eSIM leaves it in place.
Local networks:
Ooredoo,
Orange Tunisie and Tunisie Telecom are the names you will see on a Tunisia SIM card. We have not checked their prices, registration rules or coverage, so we quote none. Take your passport; a local SIM costs time after landing.
Our Tunisia plans are GB and days plans, 1 GB over 7 days to 20 GB over 30 days, data only, with no ID check. On 4G/5G coverage, the plan lists one network, Ooredoo, marked 4G: no 5G, and no second network to fall back on. The listing states no hotspot and tethering rule, so check the plan page before you share data with a laptop.
You need an eSIM-compatible phone that is unlocked. Buy from the UK and install before you travel, over Wi-Fi; the plan starts on first connection in Tunisia, so installing early uses up none of its days. How to install an eSIM has the steps.
Calls and texts to your UK number stay on your UK SIM at its Tunisia rates (keeping your UK number, roaming or eSIM).
What does the FCDO say about Tunisia?
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises against all travel to parts of western and southern Tunisia. Its page, updated on 24 July 2026, was still current when we checked it on 26 October 2026; we quote it and add no advice of our own.
Western Tunisia, including the Tunisia-Algeria border
FCDO advises against all travel to:
- the Chaambi Mountains National Park
- the designated military operations zones:
- Mount Salloum
- Mount Sammamma
- Mount Mghila
This is due to cross-border terrorist activity and operations by the Tunisian security forces.
In addition, FCDO advises against all but essential travel to:
- areas north and west of the town of Ghardimaou in Jendouba Governorate, including El Feidja National Park
- within 20km of the Tunisia-Algeria border in El Kef and Jendouba governorates, south of the town of Jendouba
- Kasserine Governorate, including the town of Sbeitla
- within 10km of the rest of the Tunisia-Algeria border south of Kasserine Governorate
- within 10km of Mount Mghila
- Mount Orbata
Southern Tunisia, including the Tunisia-Libya border
FCDO advises against all travel to:
- the militarised zone south of the towns of El Borma and Dhehiba
- within 20km of the rest of the Tunisia-Libya border area north of Dhehiba
- the town of Ben Guerdane and immediate surrounding area
This is due to cross-border terrorist activity and fighting in Libya.
In addition, FCDO advises against all but essential travel to within 75km of the Tunisia-Libya border, including Remada and El Borma but excluding Zarzis, the C118 road and all areas in Medenine Governorate north of the road.

Check before you fly
What if the eSIM doesn’t work when you land in Tunisia?
Check four settings, in this order, before you write to us.
The first is the line for mobile data. In the phone’s SIM settings, pick the travel line for mobile data; your UK line stays on for calls and texts, with its mobile data off.
The second is data roaming, for the eSIM line only. The eSIM is a foreign profile, so the phone treats Tunisia as roaming for it.
The third is the APN. On this plan it sets itself, so leave it alone; you don’t need to type one.
The fourth is a restart. Restart the phone or switch aeroplane mode on and off, and let it find Ooredoo; this can take a few minutes after you leave the plane.
Still no data? Write to us on WhatsApp or at support@esimworld.co.uk with your order number, or go through the no-signal checklist. Do not delete the eSIM to “try again”: a deleted profile usually cannot be installed twice from the same code. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
What I’d choose (and when NOT to buy the eSIM)
For a week of maps, rides and messaging I’d take 1 GB for 7 days, £2.99. For two weeks or more, with photos and social media, I’d go for 5 GB for 30 days, £6.99. If you video-call and stream every day, take the unlimited plan for 7 days, £17.99, with 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.
I would not recommend the eSIM in three cases. If your UK plan already includes Tunisia and its fair use limit is enough for you, roaming costs you nothing extra and keeps your number (compare the networks). If your phone has no eSIM or is locked to one operator, it cannot take the plan: check your model first. And if your group travels together all day and shares one connection, a pocket Wi-Fi can cover everyone.
Frequently asked questions
Is internet available in Tunisia?
Yes. Your hotel may offer Wi-Fi, but it stays at the hotel. Away from it, use your UK network at its Tunisia charge or a data-only eSIM; ours runs on
Ooredoo, 4G.
What is the best eSIM for Tunisia?
The best eSIM for Tunisia is the one that fits your trip and your network’s charge. On a network that bills per MB, or for a week of data, a data-only eSIM installed before you fly keeps the cost fixed. On Sky, £2 a day can be enough for a short stay.
Can I use my UK phone in Tunisia?
Yes, at your network’s Tunisia charge: no UK network puts Tunisia in its Europe zone. Three Complete includes it; several networks give no data without a pass, and six bill per MB. Check your network’s row before you fly.
