Talkmobile roaming: the Zone A data limit and the Holiday Boosters

In short

Talkmobile includes roaming in Zone A, its Europe zone, at no daily charge. The Roaming Fair Use Limit is 5GB per billing month if you joined or upgraded on or after 14 March 2023, and 15GB if you joined or upgraded before (checked on 24 October 2026, Talkmobile acceptable use policy). Past the limit, a Euro Holiday Booster costs £2.25 for 1 day, £10 for 8 days or £15 for 15 days.

This site is not affiliated with Talkmobile; we sell eSIMs. How we compare

You may not need an eSIM for Europe. A week in Spain on a Zone A plan costs nothing extra until you pass the monthly limit. An eSIM helps above that limit, or outside Zone A, where Talkmobile charges for data by the Booster or by the MB.

Is EU roaming included on Talkmobile, and what is the limit?

Yes. Talkmobile EU roaming is included up to 5GB per billing month for anyone who “Joined or upgraded with us on or after 14 March 2023”, and 15GB for those who joined or upgraded before (checked on 24 October 2026, Talkmobile acceptable use policy).

The date matters more than the plan name. Two people on the same tariff can have limits 10GB apart. An upgrade counts too: upgrade after 14 March 2023 and your limit is 5GB, however long you have been with Talkmobile.

That is 5GB fair use abroad per billing month, not per trip. Use 3GB abroad early in the month, and a week in Portugal later that month has 2GB left. Talkmobile tells you as you approach the limit, and texts you a link to buy a Booster once it runs out.

Past the limit, the Booster is not only for data. Talkmobile says that if you exceed the limit “you will need to buy a Euro holiday booster to call, text and use data” (Talkmobile roaming in Europe).

Long stays are a separate rule. Roam in Zone A for 61 or more days in a 120-day period and Talkmobile can warn you, then charge “a surcharge of £7 per week”. Its Europe page puts it plainly: “If you intend to be overseas for more than two months at a time, this may not be the right deal for you.”

Ireland is in Zone A and counts towards the same fair use limit. A trip to Dublin needs no travel eSIM on Talkmobile, or on any of the 15 UK networks we compare.

Which countries are in Talkmobile Zone A?

Talkmobile’s eSIM page advertises “EU roaming in 47 countries”, and Zone A is wider than the EU. It adds Ukraine, Kosovo, Switzerland, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Gibraltar and St Pierre & Miquelon (checked on 24 October 2026, Talkmobile roaming charges).

Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Gibraltar are where several UK networks charge a daily rate. On Talkmobile they sit inside the same monthly limit as Spain. Every network is set side by side in the Crown Dependencies guide and roaming in Europe.

Three traps on the list of Talkmobile roaming countries:

  • Northern Cyprus. Cyprus is in Zone A, but Talkmobile writes “Excludes Northern Cyprus”. Northern Cyprus is listed with Turkey in Zone B, where data needs a World Holiday Booster.
  • Andorra. People drive into it from Spain or France, but it is in Zone D, at £7.50 per MB.
  • Borders. Talkmobile warns that a phone can connect to a network across a border, naming Turkey and Greece, and North and South Cyprus. Switch data roaming off near those borders if you are not crossing.
All countries in Talkmobile Zone A

Austria, Azores, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Croatia, Cyprus (excludes Northern Cyprus), Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guadeloupe, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Jersey, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Martinique, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, St Pierre & Miquelon, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine.

Euro Holiday Booster: what it costs after the limit

The Euro Holiday Booster adds 15GB of data plus calls and texts to the UK and other European destinations for £2.25 (1 day), £10 (8 days) or £15 (15 days). You need one only after your monthly limit runs out (checked on 24 October 2026, Talkmobile Booster details).

A Booster starts as soon as you buy it, so buy it on the day you need it, not before you fly. The table is our arithmetic from the three prices, for a month where the included limit is already used up.

Days abroadSmallest Booster total (our sum)How
3£6.75three 1-day Boosters
7£10one 8-day Booster
8£10one 8-day Booster
12£15one 15-day Booster
15£15one 15-day Booster

For a week in Spain with the limit spent, Talkmobile’s smallest figure is £10, against £2.99 for our Spain plan with 1 GB over 7 days. They are different products. The Booster gives 15GB, calls and texts on your own number; our plan is data only.

If you still have most of your limit left, buy nothing.

Check one setting before you go. Talkmobile says Boosters “count towards the monthly spend limit set up on your account”. A spend limit of £0 stops you buying one abroad.

World Holiday Booster and Zones B, C and D

Talkmobile Zone B (82 destinations, including the USA and Turkey) gives data only through a World Holiday Booster: 500MB for 1 day at £5, 5GB for 8 days at £20 or 8GB for 15 days at £30 (checked on 24 October 2026, Talkmobile Booster details).

The World Holiday Booster covers data only. Talkmobile roaming charges for calls and texts apply on top in Zone B, and in Zones C and D, which have no Booster at all:

ZoneExamplesDataCalls made / received, per minuteTexts sent
Zone B (82 destinations)USA, Turkey, Egypt, Thailand, India, Morocco, CanadaWorld Holiday Booster only£1 / 41p25p
Zone CUAE (Dubai), Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Sri Lanka£1.20 per MB£1.20 / 41p35p
Zone DAndorra, Greenland, Lebanon, Madagascar, US Virgin Islands£7.50 per MB£2 / £135p

Zone C and Zone D rates are per MB, and they add up fast. Our arithmetic: 100MB in Zone C is 100 × £1.20 = £120. In Zone D, 100MB is £750. For Dubai or Pakistan, that means data roaming off and Wi-Fi only on the Talkmobile line, unless you add a second line.

The same trip, set against ours:

DestinationTalkmobile (checked on 24 October 2026)Our plan, 1 GB for 7 days, data only
USA (Zone B)£20 World Holiday Booster, 5GB for 8 days£2.99
Turkey (Zone B)£20 World Holiday Booster, 5GB for 8 days£2.99
Pakistan (Zone C)£1.20 per MB, no Booster£2.99

The Booster lasts 8 days and starts when you buy it. On most of our plans the days start when the eSIM first connects at your destination; check the activation rule shown on your plan. If you need calls on your Talkmobile number, keep that line and add ours for data: keeping your UK number.

Turkey: buy and install your eSIM before you travel. eSIM shops, including ours, may not open on Turkish networks.

Booster or a travel eSIM for a week away?

For a week in Zone A, a travel eSIM rarely earns its place. Your plan covers 5GB or 15GB a month, and a Booster for the rest is £10. For a week in Zone B or C, the choice is real (checked on 24 October 2026).

Three things decide it:

  • Where you are going. Zone A: use the plan. Zone B: £20 for 8 days against our plan price. Zone C or D: a second line, because per-MB rates are the cost of a mistake.
  • Your joining or upgrade date. On or after 14 March 2023 your limit is 5GB, so a month with a long trip and hotspot use can pass it. Before that date it is 15GB.
  • Whether you need calls. The Euro Holiday Booster includes calls and texts. In Zone B a call costs £1 a minute to make and 41p a minute to receive, Booster or not.

For any network, roaming or eSIM works through the same decision. We have not checked Talkmobile’s rates on ships or planes; for a cruise, see the cruise page.

eSIM on Talkmobile: activation and transfer

Talkmobile says “All Talkmobile SIM Only plans are available with eSIM”. You pick eSIM at checkout, register for MyAccount, then choose “I’m installing an eSIM” in the Talkmobile app (Talkmobile eSIM).

The app then installs it by QR code, direct setup or manual entry. To move an existing line to eSIM, the route is in the same app: Profile, “Activate replacement SIM”, “Swap to an eSIM”. Talkmobile e-mails you when the eSIM is ready, and you finish in the app. The phone makers’ own menus for adding or moving an eSIM are in how to transfer an eSIM.

At home, Talkmobile says its customers can use both the Vodafone network and Three’s network at no extra cost (Talkmobile network). Abroad, Zone A works the same on an eSIM as on a plastic SIM.

Your Talkmobile eSIM is your Talkmobile line, with your number. A travel eSIM from us is a second, data-only line next to it. A dual SIM phone holds both: Talkmobile for calls and texts, the travel line for data, with data roaming off on the Talkmobile line (data roaming settings).

Frequently asked questions

Is Talkmobile free roaming in Europe?

Yes, up to a limit. Zone A roaming has no daily charge, with a fair use limit of 5GB per billing month if you joined or upgraded on or after 14 March 2023, and 15GB if before (checked on 24 October 2026). Past the limit you need a Euro Holiday Booster to keep calling, texting and using data.

How much does a Talkmobile Euro Holiday Booster cost?

£2.25 for 1 day, £10 for 8 days or £15 for 15 days. Each gives 15GB of data plus calls and texts to the UK and other European destinations, and you need one only after you reach your monthly limit (checked on 24 October 2026). It starts as soon as you buy it.

How do I activate roaming on Talkmobile?

You do not need to. Zone A roaming is included in all Talkmobile UK plans, so you switch data roaming on in your phone settings and use it. Boosters are bought in MyAccount, in the Talkmobile app or on 5888 (+44 333 304 8064 from abroad). They count towards your spend limit, so a £0 limit blocks them.
