Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Gibraltar: roaming on every UK network, and the eSIM option

In short

Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man are not the UK for your phone, and the 15 UK networks treat them differently (checked on 24 October 2026). O2, iD Mobile, Tesco Mobile, Talkmobile, BT Mobile and Asda Mobile include all three islands and Gibraltar. EE charges £2.72 a day in all four on plans from 7 July 2021 (checked on 24 October 2026), and Lyca Mobile charges there too.

Information verified on 24 October 2026 at the official sources listed below. This is not financial advice; check card settings, fees and limits with your bank before you pay. How we check information.

This site is not affiliated with any of the networks mentioned here; we sell eSIMs. How we compare

You may not need an eSIM. Sky Mobile also includes the three islands, and Vodafone, VOXI and Three include the Isle of Man. On those networks your own plan works there, inside its usual limits. One catch if you shop for a Jersey eSIM: our Europe eSIM does not cover Jersey and Guernsey, or the Isle of Man.

Why does my phone say “roaming” in Jersey?

Because your UK network lists Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man as roaming destinations, in the same price lists as Spain and Switzerland. Whether that costs anything depends on your network, not on the island (checked on 24 October 2026).

Jersey and Guernsey are the Channel Islands, and that is how Sky and SMARTY name them on their own pages. The Republic of Ireland is included on all 15 networks, several of them to protect you at the Northern Ireland border. On giffgaff, Ireland sits inside the 5GB EU-zone allowance.

For the four places on this page, the networks split six ways:

GroupNetworks
All four includedO2, iD Mobile, Tesco Mobile, Talkmobile, BT Mobile, Asda Mobile
The three islands included, Gibraltar £2 a daySky Mobile
Isle of Man included; Jersey, Guernsey and Gibraltar charged on some plansVodafone, Three
Isle of Man included; Jersey, Guernsey and Gibraltar need a passVOXI
The three islands charged, Gibraltar included with the EU or EEALebara, giffgaff, SMARTY
All four chargedEE, Lyca Mobile

So Jersey roaming, Guernsey roaming and Isle of Man roaming can cost different amounts on the same network. On Vodafone the Isle of Man is included, while Jersey is £2.75 a day (checked on 24 October 2026).

When you connect abroad, your network must send you a free message with its prices, unless you opted out. Ofcom’s rule says it covers whether the destination is in your plan, the charges, and when any charge period starts and ends (Ofcom: mobile roaming customer protections).

Which UK networks include the Crown Dependencies and Gibraltar?

Who charges and who includes, network by network: the daily charges run from £2 on Sky, in Gibraltar only, to £2.75 on Vodafone and Three. EE charges £2.72 in all four places. Each row links the network’s own page and the date we checked it.

A charge in the table always comes with a condition. Here is the one each network attaches:

NetworkThe condition behind the figure
EEPer day of use, midnight to midnight UK time, on plans launched from 7 July 2021; older plans use the allowance at no extra cost
VodafonePay monthly plans from 11 August 2021 without roaming included; Euro Roam and Global Roam plans include Zone B. Passes: 8 days £16, 15 days £21
ThreeLite and Lite+ only: £2.75 if you joined or upgraded on or after 18 December 2025, £2 from 1 October 2021 to 17 December 2025 and on SIM Only 24-month Lite plans from 1 June 2025. Value and Complete include Go Roam in Europe
Sky Mobile£2 a day through Roaming Passport Plus
VOXIA European Roaming Pass, from £2.60 for 1 day, counted from purchase
LebaraA Zone 4 add-on: 4GB for 8 days £5, or 7GB for 15 days £10
giffgaff20p a MB, texts 30p, calls 15p a minute
SMARTY2p a MB and 10p a minute, taken from prepaid out-of-plan add-ons; without them, data does not work there
Lyca MobileCharged as Zone 2; we print no per-MB figure

EE and Three also raise their daily charges every year: EE by 5%, Three by CPI plus 3.9% each 1 April (not on SIM Only 24-month Lite plans from 31 May 2025).

“Included” still sits inside each network’s own limit. O2 allows up to 25GB in its Europe Zone, Asda 5GB a month, and Talkmobile 5GB a month on plans from 14 March 2023. iD Mobile lets you use your full UK allowance at the moment, under a promotion; its normal limit is 30GB (checked on 24 October 2026).

On EE, a long weekend in Jersey with the phone used on all three days is £8.16 (our sum). EE’s Jersey rate is its Spain rate. The network pages have the detail, for example EE, Vodafone and giffgaff; the roaming hub lists all 15.

Does a Europe eSIM work in Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man?

No. Our Europe plan does not cover Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man; Gibraltar is in it, on Gibtelecom. A Jersey eSIM from us is a local plan on one network, JT, at £3.99 for 1 GB over 7 days, data only.

The three islands are also in our worldwide plan, our global eSIM plan. Here is what we sell, place by place:

PlaceWhat we sellNetwork on the plan1 GB over 7 days, data only
JerseyA local plan, and the worldwide planJT (local); JT and Sure (worldwide)£3.99 (local)
GuernseyThe worldwide plan only; there is no local planJT and Sure£5.99 (worldwide)
Isle of ManA local plan, and the worldwide planManx Telecom (local); Sure (worldwide)£3.99 (local)
GibraltarA local plan, and our Europe planGibtelecom£3.99 (local)

On the Isle of Man our two plans use different networks, Sure and Manx Telecom: Sure on the worldwide plan, Manx Telecom on the local one.

Set our price beside your network’s charge. On EE, one day in Jersey is £2.72 and three days are £8.16 (our sum, checked on 24 October 2026); our Jersey eSIM is £3.99 for 1 GB over 7 days. EE’s charge keeps your number and your UK allowance; ours is a second line for data only.

On giffgaff, 100MB in Jersey is £20 at 20p a MB (our arithmetic, checked on 24 October 2026). On SMARTY the same 100MB is £2, so for light use SMARTY’s own rate may be all you need. On Sky, O2 or Tesco Mobile the islands cost nothing extra.

An eSIM is a second, data-only line. Your own number keeps working for calls and texts, and a dual SIM phone holds both; keeping your UK number explains the setup. On EE or Vodafone, a call you make or a text you send on your UK line still starts that day’s charge. EE charges for each UK day you use your plan allowance (checked on 24 October 2026, EE price guide); Vodafone’s Charges Guide lists the day charge against making calls and sending texts, and receiving calls as free (checked on 24 October 2026, Vodafone Charges Guide). Data roaming settings shows how to stop the home line using data.

Install the eSIM before you travel; the plan starts when it first connects at your destination. The plan pages for the Jersey eSIM, the Isle of Man and Gibraltar list every size.

Gibraltar: included almost everywhere

Gibraltar roaming is included on most UK networks. EE, Vodafone, Three, Sky, VOXI and Lyca Mobile charge there on at least some plans. Sky’s charge is £2 a day (checked on 24 October 2026); the table above has the rest.

Lebara, giffgaff and SMARTY charge on the three islands but include Gibraltar. Lebara counts it as an EEA destination, up to 30GB. giffgaff puts it in its EU zone, inside 5GB per plan, and SMARTY in Roaming EU, inside its 12GB limit.

Lyca Mobile goes the other way. Gibraltar is not on its EU Roaming Zone list, and Lyca charges it as Zone 2, so confirm the price in your Lyca account.

Our Europe plan covers Gibraltar and Spain, so one plan covers a Costa del Sol trip and the Rock. Our local Gibraltar plan is £3.99 for 1 GB over 7 days, data only, on Gibtelecom. If your network includes Gibraltar, you need neither.

Ferries and flights to the islands

On the ferry and flights from the UK, your phone may join a maritime or aircraft network without telling you. Those networks cost far more than normal roaming: on giffgaff and SMARTY it is £5 a MB.

NetworkOn a ship, ferry or planeChecked on

Three£6 a MB24 October 2026
SMARTY£5 a MB24 October 2026
Sky Mobileno data over the sea24 October 2026

At £5 a MB, a 2MB background update costs £10 (our arithmetic). Switch data roaming off on the crossing and use the ship’s Wi-Fi.

Our eSIMs use land networks, so they work in port, not at sea. The cruise page covers longer trips on ships.

Frequently asked questions

Is roaming free in Jersey on my UK network?

Only on some networks. O2, iD Mobile, Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile, Talkmobile, BT Mobile and Asda Mobile include Jersey, and so do Three Value and Complete and Vodafone Euro Roam plans. EE charges £2.72 a day on plans from 7 July 2021 (checked on 24 October 2026), and giffgaff 20p a MB (checked on 24 October 2026).

Does a Europe eSIM work in Jersey?

No. Our Europe plan does not cover Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man; Gibraltar is in it. For a Jersey eSIM we sell a local plan on one network, JT, and our worldwide plan covers all three islands.

Is the Isle of Man included in UK roaming?

On most networks, yes. EE, Lebara, giffgaff, SMARTY and Lyca Mobile charge on the Isle of Man; the others include it, Vodafone and VOXI in their Zone A (checked on 24 October 2026).
