# Vodafone roaming: Zone B passes, Euro Roam and Vodafone Travel eSIM compared

Vodafone UK charges £2.75 a day to roam in Europe (Zone B) on pay monthly plans from 11 August 2021 that do not include roaming (checked on 24 October 2026, [Vodafone extras](https://www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/extras)). An 8-day European Roaming Pass costs £16 and a 15-day pass £21 instead. Zone A, which holds Ireland, the Isle of Man, Iceland and Norway, is always included. Three days on the daily charge come to £8.25 (our sum), on your own number and allowance; our Europe eSIM is £2.99 for 1 GB over 7 days, data only.

This site is not affiliated with Vodafone; we sell eSIMs. [How we compare](https://esimworld.co.uk/how-we-compare/)

You may not need an eSIM at all. Plans from before 11 August 2021 are not on the Zone B daily charge, Euro Roam and Global Roam plans include Europe, and Ireland is Zone A on every Vodafone pay monthly plan. Check your plan before you buy anything.

Two Vodafone products share one name. Vodafone roaming is what your own UK plan does abroad, on your number and your allowance. Vodafone Travel eSIM is a separate travel eSIM that Vodafone sells to anyone, with no link to your plan; this page keeps them apart.

## How much does Vodafone charge to roam in Europe?

Vodafone charges £2.75 a day in Zone B if your plan "doesn't include roaming in Europe" and you have not bought a pass; the 8-day roaming pass is £16 and the 15-day roaming pass £21 (checked on 24 October 2026, [Vodafone extras](https://www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/extras)). The daily rate applies to pay monthly plans from 11 August 2021.

You pay it for each day you use the phone. Vodafone's [Charges Guide](https://binaries.vodafone.co.uk/gbnnsauqav4t/3ynRZJ6BvgpyYyPmoIAHX0/8db1261c02e0d6da7ce38860abd57b86/evo-paym-charges-guide.pdf) lists the £2.75 against making calls, sending texts and using data in Zone B; receiving calls is listed as free. The same guide shows £2.57 before 14 April 2026 and £2.75 from that date.

Zone B covers 48 destinations, among them [France](https://esimworld.co.uk/sim-card/france/), Spain, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Jersey, Guernsey and Gibraltar. If you are looking for a Vodafone EU roaming pass, Vodafone calls it the European Roaming Pass. It covers Zones A and B, 52 destinations, and becomes active "when you start roaming", not when you buy it.

| Vodafone Europe option | Price | How long it runs |
|---|---|---|
| Daily charge, Zone B | £2.75 | each day you use the phone |
| European Roaming Pass, 8-day | £16 | 8 days from arrival |
| European Roaming Pass, 15-day | £21 | 15 days from arrival |

Euro Roam plans include Zones A and B ("52 destinations") and Global Roam plans include Zones A, B and C ("84 destinations", including [Australia](https://esimworld.co.uk/sim-card/australia/), Turkey, Mexico and the USA). On those plans you pay nothing extra, up to the fair use limit. Vodafone's page says "all our pay monthly plans are subject to a 25GB roaming fair use policy".

Above 25GB in a month, Vodafone charges £3.84 per GB until your allowance renews. That is the rate in the Charges Guide and in the fair use answer on [Vodafone global roaming](https://www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/global-roaming), and we follow it. The £3.83 per GB on the same page is a different charge, for long stays: Vodafone may add it if you roam for more than 62 days, or use more abroad than in the UK over four months, after a text alert 14 days before.

### What a trip costs on Vodafone, day by day

The 8-day pass costs less than the daily charge from the sixth day of use, because six days cost £16.50. The table is our arithmetic from Vodafone's published rates, for pay monthly plans from 11 August 2021 without Euro Roam, with each pass starting on arrival.

<!-- visual-slot -->

| Days of use | Daily charge only | Smallest Vodafone total (our sum) | How |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | £8.25 | £8.25 | daily charge |
| 7 | £19.25 | £16 | 8-day pass |
| 8 | £22 | £16 | 8-day pass |
| 12 | £33 | £21 | 15-day pass |
| 15 | £41.25 | £21 | 15-day pass |

Source: Vodafone extras and global roaming pages, checked on 24 October 2026. The daily rate and the pass prices are Vodafone's; the totals are ours.

For a week in Spain, then, Vodafone's smallest figure is £16 for the 8-day pass, against £2.99 for our [Europe plan](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-europe/) with 1 GB over 7 days. They are different products. The pass lets you use your UK allowance, minutes and texts on your own number; our plan is data only. [Keeping your UK number](https://esimworld.co.uk/help/keep-your-uk-number/) explains how to run both on one phone.

Vodafone sets no default roaming spend cap for you. Spend Manager is a limit you set yourself, in My Vodafone or by calling 191. Ofcom says the statutory roaming protections "fell away" at the end of June 2022, so no cap is a legal requirement ([Ofcom roaming protections](https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-and-broadband/bills-and-charges/mobile-roaming-customer-protections)).

## Which countries are in Vodafone Zone A and Zone B?

Zone A has 4 destinations and is included on every pay monthly plan: the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man, Iceland and Norway. Zone B has 48 and is where the £2.75 daily charge or a pass applies (checked on 24 October 2026, [Vodafone global roaming](https://www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/global-roaming)).

Ireland needs no travel eSIM on any UK network, Vodafone included. Jersey, Guernsey and Gibraltar are in Zone B, not Zone A; the Crown Dependencies section below sets them out. [Roaming in Europe](https://esimworld.co.uk/roaming/europe/) compares every network on the mainland.

The full Vodafone roaming countries list for Zone B is in the block below.

Turkey is not in Zone B. It sits in Zone C, and Andorra in Zone D.

## What does Vodafone charge outside Europe: Zones C and D?

Zones C and D cost £8 a day on pay monthly plans from 11 August 2021 (£6 on earlier plans), according to Vodafone's own roaming guide (checked on 24 October 2026, [Vodafone roaming guide](https://www.vodafone.co.uk/newscentre/smart-living/everything-you-need-to-know-about/roaming-with-vodafone-in-2022-everything-you-need-to-know/)). The Charges Guide prints the same £8 from 14 April 2026; /global-roaming shows no figure.

Zone C holds the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey (with North Cyprus). Zone D holds Thailand, India, Japan, Egypt, Morocco and the UAE, among 73 destinations.

Seven days of use in Zone C or Zone D come to £56 at £8 a day (our arithmetic). Global Roam plans include Zone C, so a USA or Turkey trip costs nothing extra on one, up to the 25GB fair use limit.

Beyond Zone D, Vodafone splits the Rest of the World into zones 1 to 4. Its Charges Guide says that to use data there "you'll need to buy one of our optional extras"; the older roaming guide quotes a per-MB rate instead. We follow the Charges Guide and print no per-MB figure.

**Turkey:** buy and install your eSIM before you travel. eSIM shops, including ours, may not open on Turkish networks. Our Turkey plan does not cover North Cyprus, which Vodafone counts with Turkey.

| Destination | Vodafone, 7 days of use (our sum) | What Vodafone's figure covers | Our plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| [USA](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-united-states/) (Zone C) | £56 on the daily charge | your UK allowance, minutes and texts, on your number | £2.99 for 1 GB over 7 days, data only |
| [Turkey](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-turkey/) (Zone C) | £56 on the daily charge | your UK allowance, minutes and texts, on your number | £2.99 for 1 GB over 7 days, data only |
| [France](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-france/) (Zone B) | £16 with the 8-day pass | your UK allowance, minutes and texts, on your number | £2.99 for 1 GB over 7 days, data only |

Vodafone's figure stays within its 25GB fair use limit. Our plans are data only, and on most of them validity starts when the eSIM first connects abroad, not when you buy it; check the activation rule shown on your plan. A week of streaming will not fit in 1 GB, so check the larger plans on each product page.

## Vodafone pass vs Vodafone Travel eSIM vs an independent eSIM

A Vodafone roaming pass costs £16 for 8 days on your own plan; Vodafone Travel eSIM lists Europe at £9 for 1GB over 7 days, data only (Vodafone figures checked on 24 October 2026); ours is £2.99 for the same 1 GB and 7 days. Vodafone Travel eSIM is a separate product at travel.vodafone.com, sold to anyone, and has nothing to do with the roaming on your plan.

| | Vodafone European Roaming Pass | Vodafone Travel eSIM, Europe | Our Europe eSIM |
|---|---|---|---|
| Data | your UK allowance, 25GB fair use | 1GB | 1 GB |
| Days | 8 from arrival | 7 | 7, starting on first connection abroad |
| Price | £16 | £9 | £2.99 |
| Number and calls | your own number, minutes and texts | data only | data only |
| Needs a Vodafone plan | yes | no | no |
| Source | [Vodafone extras](https://www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/extras) | [travel.vodafone.com](https://travel.vodafone.com/our-destinations/europe) | product page |

The second and third columns match on data and days; the pass does not, because it draws on your plan. Vodafone Travel eSIM also lists 5GB for 10 days in Europe at £11, [Turkey](https://esimworld.co.uk/sim-card/turkey/) 3GB for 7 days at £9 and the USA 5GB for 10 days at £11. Those sizes are not ours, so we set no ratio against them.

At the 24 October 2026 snapshot, Vodafone Travel eSIM ran a "Double Data" promotion. Promotional volumes are temporary, so we leave them out of every comparison on this page; the figures above are the standard sizes. Check travel.vodafone.com for what is on offer the day you buy.

The three do different jobs: the pass keeps your number and allowance, the other two are second, data-only lines. Three questions decide it:

1. **Does your plan already include Europe?** On Euro Roam, Global Roam or a pre-11 August 2021 plan you pay nothing extra, so keep it.
2. **Do you need calls on your own number all day?** Then the pass is the only one of the three that carries them.
3. **Is it data only, and how much?** Compare the plan size with what your phone says you use in a week at home.

For any network, [roaming or eSIM](https://esimworld.co.uk/roaming-or-esim/) walks through the same decision, and [roaming on UK networks](https://esimworld.co.uk/roaming/) sets out every network's charges.

## Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man on Vodafone

The Isle of Man is in Zone A, which is included, while Jersey and Guernsey are Zone B at £2.75 a day or inside the pass (checked on 24 October 2026, [Vodafone global roaming](https://www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/global-roaming)). With the Isle of Man in Zone A, a Vodafone customer pays nothing extra there.

| Place | Vodafone pay monthly |
|---|---|
| Republic of Ireland | included (Zone A) |
| Isle of Man | included (Zone A) |
| Jersey | £2.75 a day (Zone B) |
| Guernsey | £2.75 a day (Zone B) |
| Gibraltar | £2.75 a day (Zone B) |

A weekend in Jersey with the phone used on two days costs £5.50 on the daily charge (our sum); the 8-day pass at £16 only pays from the sixth day of use. Our Europe plan does not cover Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man; Gibraltar is in it. [Crown Dependencies and Gibraltar](https://esimworld.co.uk/roaming/crown-dependencies-gibraltar/) sets every network side by side.

At sea, a phone can connect to a maritime network without you noticing, and those networks charge far above land rates. We have no Vodafone ship or plane rate to quote, so ask Vodafone before you sail. Switch off data roaming at sea and use the ship's Wi-Fi. Our eSIMs use land networks, so they work in port, not at sea; see [the cruise page](https://esimworld.co.uk/cruise/).

## eSIM on Vodafone: activation and transfer

Vodafone says "all our SIM only plans are available as an eSIM": choose eSIM at checkout, and Vodafone emails you a QR code to scan. Your phone must be unlocked, and dialling *#06# shows an EID if it takes an eSIM ([Vodafone eSIM](https://www.vodafone.co.uk/sim-only/esim), checked on 24 October 2026).

After activation, Manage my eSIM in My Vodafone covers three jobs: convert Vodafone SIM to eSIM, move your eSIM to a new device, or delete it. The phone makers' own menu paths are in [how to transfer an eSIM](https://esimworld.co.uk/help/transfer-esim/).

Your Vodafone eSIM is your Vodafone line, with your number. A travel eSIM from us, or Vodafone Travel eSIM, is a second, data-only line next to it. A dual SIM phone holds both: Vodafone for calls and texts, the travel line for data, with data roaming off on the Vodafone line ([data roaming settings](https://esimworld.co.uk/help/data-roaming-settings/)).

Data roaming off does not switch off the daily charge: in Zone B, one call made or one text sent on the Vodafone line still makes that a £2.75 day.

## Pay as you go: Vodafone Extras abroad

Pay as you go customers can "add an Extra that covers your destination or pay a daily charge". The 8-day Europe Data Extra gives 3GB for £10.30, and the 8-day Europe Extra adds 100 minutes and 200 texts to the 3GB for £13.68 (checked on 24 October 2026, [Vodafone extras](https://www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/extras)).

Zone A is included on pay as you go; outside it, Pay as you go Plus users "will need to add an extra to roam".

| Vodafone PAYG Extra | Data | Calls and texts | Days | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Europe Data Extra (47 destinations) | 3GB | none | 8 | £10.30 |
| Europe Extra | 3GB | 100 minutes, 200 texts | 8 | £13.68 |
| Around the World Extra (74 destinations), data | 2GB | none | 8 | £13.68 |
| Around the World Extra | 2GB | 100 minutes, 100 texts | 8 | £19.31 |
| Around the World Extra | 4GB | 200 minutes, 200 texts | 15 | £30.84 |
| Rest of the World Extra (61 destinations), data | 150MB | none | 8 | £15 |
| Rest of the World Extra | 150MB | 25 minutes, 150 texts | 8 | £35 |

The UAE is in none of the Extras lists on the page (checked on 24 October 2026); ask Vodafone before you plan a Dubai trip on pay as you go. Extras are sold per bundle, and the sizes differ from our plans, so we add no comparison.

## What does Vodafone text you when you connect abroad?

Under Ofcom's General Condition C3.15, in force from 1 October 2024, Vodafone must send a free message when your phone connects to a network abroad. It must say whether the destination is in your plan, the prices, and when any charge period starts and ends ([Ofcom: using your mobile abroad](https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-and-broadband/saving-money/using-your-mobile-abroad)).

Read it before you use data. It does not replace checking your plan date against 11 August 2021 before you leave.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much are roaming charges on Vodafone?

£2.75 for each day you use your phone in Europe (Zone B), on pay monthly plans from 11 August 2021 without Euro Roam, or £16 for an 8-day pass and £21 for a 15-day pass (checked on 24 October 2026). Zones C and D cost £8 a day, according to Vodafone's roaming guide and Charges Guide.

### Is EU roaming free on Vodafone?

Only on some plans. Zone A (Ireland, Isle of Man, Iceland, Norway) is included on all pay monthly plans, and Euro Roam and Global Roam plans include Zone B as well. Plans from before 11 August 2021 are not on the daily charge. All of them have a 25GB roaming fair use limit, with £3.84 per GB above it.

### How do I activate an eSIM with Vodafone?

Choose eSIM at checkout on a SIM only plan, then scan the QR code Vodafone emails you. The phone must be unlocked. Dial *#06# first: an EID on screen means your phone takes an eSIM. Manage my eSIM in My Vodafone covers converting, moving and deleting.

### Is Vodafone Travel eSIM part of my Vodafone plan?

No. Vodafone Travel eSIM is a separate, data-only product sold at travel.vodafone.com to anyone, whether or not they use Vodafone. It does not use your plan allowance, minutes or number. In Zone B, a call you make or a text you send on your Vodafone line still triggers Vodafone's own daily charge.

### Does Vodafone offer pay as you go roaming?

Yes. Pay as you go customers add an Extra or pay a daily charge; for example, an 8-day Europe Data Extra with 3GB costs £10.30 (checked on 24 October 2026). Zone A is included; Pay as you go Plus users add an Extra to roam beyond it. The UAE is in none of the Extras lists on the page.
