# Lyca Mobile roaming: the EU Roaming Zone, EU & Balkan Pass and country passes

Lycamobile roaming in the EU is included in 30 countries on current pay as you go and pay monthly plans. Plans from 250MB to 300GB get up to 12GB of data; Lyca's largest plans get up to 35GB (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lyca EU roaming](https://www.lycamobile.co.uk/en/euroaming/)). Over the cap, data costs 15p/MB.

This site is not affiliated with Lyca Mobile; we sell eSIMs. [How we compare](https://esimworld.co.uk/how-we-compare/)

You may not need an eSIM for Lycamobile roaming in Europe. Spain, France, Poland, Romania and Ireland are inside the zone, and your own plan works there. An eSIM only helps above the cap, or where Lyca charges: Turkey, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, the USA, Switzerland, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Gibraltar. This page covers data roaming. Lyca's rates for calls home to family abroad are a separate price list we do not quote.

## Is Lycamobile roaming included in the EU, and what is the cap?

Yes. Lyca says: "As of 17 July 2023, all current Lyca Mobile Pay As You Go (PAYG) and Pay monthly plans come with EU Roaming included as standard" (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lyca EU roaming](https://www.lycamobile.co.uk/en/euroaming/)). The 12GB EU fair use cap is a limit, not a daily charge, and Lyca resets it "every 30 days".

| What | Lyca figure |
|---|---|
| Data, plans from 250MB to 300GB | up to 12GB |
| Data, the largest plans | up to 35GB |
| Minutes and texts | 2000 minutes, 2000 SMS |
| Cap period | 30 days, then reset |
| Data over the cap | 15p/MB |

The same page repeats "data upto 35GB" in its Ireland and France answers. That is the larger plans' cap, so read 12GB or 35GB by your plan.

Two traps sit on that page. Lyca lists "Mobile data sharing or tethering" among the services "not available under EU Roaming", so do not plan on running a laptop from your phone's hotspot. And the over-cap rate adds up fast. Our arithmetic: at 15p/MB, 500MB costs £75 and 1GB (1,000MB) costs £150.

Past 12GB of Lycamobile roaming, Lyca lists EU add-ons such as 10GB for £15 over 30 days or 12GB for £20 over 3 months. Its EU page says existing customers buy bolt-ons online, in the Bolt-ons tab of their account. It does not say which bolt-on fits which plan, so look in that tab first.

Lyca's two pages disagree on spend limits. The roaming page says you can set a roaming spend cap by dialling `*315#`, and that a cap of £0 switches roaming off. The EU page lists the spend cap as "Available" on pay monthly and "Not available" on pay as you go, where charges come off your top-up balance. We follow the EU page: on pay as you go, your credit is the limit.

## Which countries are in the Lyca EU Roaming Zone?

The Lyca Mobile roaming countries in the EU Roaming Zone number 30 (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lyca EU roaming](https://www.lycamobile.co.uk/en/euroaming/)). It is Lyca's Zone 1, the only zone where roaming is included.

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

There is nothing to switch on. Lyca's EU page says the phone "automatically connects to networks when you arrive in our EU Roaming Zone".

Switzerland is outside, in Lyca's Zone 3; Andorra and Monaco are in Zone 5. Ireland is inside, so a weekend in Dublin costs nothing extra on data. For the same countries on other networks, see [roaming in Europe](https://esimworld.co.uk/roaming/europe/); all 15 networks are on [UK roaming by network](https://esimworld.co.uk/roaming/).

## EU & Balkan Pass: Turkey, Albania and Serbia

Lyca's EU Roaming Pass covers 42 countries, 12 more than the zone: 2GB for 7 days costs £5 and 10GB for 10 days costs £15 (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lyca roaming](https://www.lycamobile.co.uk/en/roaming/)). Lyca lists it for pay as you go customers, bought with top-up credit.

Beyond the 30 zone countries, the pass area adds Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Gibraltar, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine, plus the UK.

| Pass | Data | Days | Price | Purchase limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EU Roaming Pass XS | 2GB | 7 | £5 | 5 in 30 days |
| EU Roaming Pass S | 10GB | 10 | £15 | 3 in 30 days |

Lyca words the limit as "Max purchase of 5 within 30days" (3 for the S pass). The allowance is "available on permitted networks only".

Lyca also lists Albania country passes: 2GB for £6 and 4GB for £10. Their own text disagrees with their names. The "7 Days" pass says "Bundle Valid for 14 days", and the "14 Days" pass says 7. We follow the EU Roaming Pass for Albania, whose text matches its 7 days.

**Turkey:** buy and install your eSIM before you travel. eSIM shops, including ours, may not open on Turkish networks.

For Turkey, Lyca lists two £5 options for 7 days: the EU Roaming Pass XS with 2GB, and the Turkey pass with 1GB. Without a pass, Lyca's pay as you go credit rate in Turkey is 31p/MB. That makes 1GB (1,000MB) £310, our arithmetic.

## Lycamobile roaming passes for the USA, Turkey, Pakistan and more

For PAYG customers Lyca sells country passes of 7 or 14 days: the USA is 3GB for 7 days at £10, Pakistan 2GB for 7 days at £10 (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lyca roaming](https://www.lycamobile.co.uk/en/roaming/)). Each is bought with top-up credit, and Lyca allows five purchases in 30 days.

| Country | Lyca zone | 7 days | 14 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| USA | Zone 2 | 3GB, £10 | 7GB, £20 |
| Turkey | Zone 3 | 1GB, £5 | 2.5GB, £10 |
| Thailand | Zone 3 | 1GB, £5 | 2.5GB, £10 |
| India | Zone 3 | 0.5GB, £5 | 1.5GB, £10 |
| Pakistan | Zone 2 | 2GB, £10 | 5GB, £20 |
| Nigeria | Zone 3 | 1GB, £10 | 2.5GB, £20 |
| United Arab Emirates | Zone 3 | 0.5GB, £10 | 2GB, £20 |
| Egypt | Zone 4 | 1GB, £10 | 2GB, £20 |

Lyca lists more countries on its page. Where no add-on is listed, its FAQ says you pay "the standard PAYG (Pay As You Go) rates" from your top-up credit.

Lyca's roaming FAQ also says that with an active eSIM or physical SIM "you can buy any of our roaming add-on bundles", even while abroad. They are "separate from your regular plans" and switch on by themselves once Lyca's confirmation e-mail or SMS arrives.

Lyca also lists 30-day ROAM BOOST add-ons. One is 1GB for £15, for India, Nigeria, Switzerland, the UAE, [Thailand](https://esimworld.co.uk/sim-card/thailand/) and others. The other is 3GB for £10, for Pakistan, the USA, Gibraltar and others. Neither page says which plans can buy them, so check your account.

### Family visits: Poland, Romania, India, Pakistan, Nigeria

Poland and Romania are inside the zone. India, Pakistan and Nigeria are not, so you buy a pass or pay per MB abroad.

| Visit | Lyca position | Pay as you go rate | Pass on your number | Our plan, 1 GB for 7 days (data only) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Poland | EU Roaming Zone | included up to 12GB | not needed | not needed on a current plan |
| Romania | EU Roaming Zone | included up to 12GB | not needed | not needed on a current plan |
| [India](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-india/) | Zone 3 | 14p/MB | 1.5GB, 14 days, £10 | £3.99 |
| [Pakistan](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-pakistan/) | Zone 2 | 14p/MB | 5GB, 14 days, £20 | £2.99 |
| [Nigeria](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-nigeria/) | Zone 3 | no figure checked | 2.5GB, 14 days, £20 | £4.99 |

Lyca figures checked on 24 October 2026. The rows are not like for like. Lyca's pass runs 14 days on your own number and credit; ours runs 7 days as a separate data-only line.

Our sum for India: at 14p/MB, 1GB (1,000MB) is £140 on pay as you go credit, against £10 for the 14-day pass. Buy the pass before you land. Calls and texts in India or [Pakistan](https://esimworld.co.uk/sim-card/pakistan/) are priced separately, on Lyca's roaming page.

## Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Gibraltar on Lyca

Zone 2 charges apply in all four. Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Gibraltar are missing from the EU Roaming Zone list, and Lyca's rate data puts them in Zone 2 (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lyca roaming](https://www.lycamobile.co.uk/en/roaming/)).

| Place | Lyca |
|---|---|
| Republic of Ireland | included |
| Jersey | charged, Zone 2 |
| Guernsey | charged, Zone 2 |
| Isle of Man | charged, Zone 2 |
| Gibraltar | charged, Zone 2; in the EU Roaming Pass area |
| Switzerland | charged, Zone 3; in the EU Roaming Pass area |

None of the Lyca passes we checked lists Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man, so there you pay Lyca's Zone 2 rate from credit. We quote no per-MB figure: Lyca's rate data gives none we could confirm. Check your island on Lyca's roaming page before you go.

Gibraltar is in the EU Roaming Pass list but not the zone. Our Europe plan covers Gibraltar, but not Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man. How the other 14 networks treat the islands is in [the Crown Dependencies and Gibraltar guide](https://esimworld.co.uk/roaming/crown-dependencies-gibraltar/).

On a ferry, mind the satellite link. Lyca's roaming page says internet on a plane or ship "may incur additional charges as these services are typically provided by satellite networks". See [the cruise page](https://esimworld.co.uk/cruise/).

## Lyca pass or a travel eSIM?

For the USA, Lyca's pass is 3GB for 7 days at £10; our plan is 1 GB for 7 days, data only, at £2.99 (Lyca checked on 24 October 2026). They are different products, not one price list.

| Destination | Lyca pass: 7 days, your number | Our plan: 7 days, data only |
|---|---|---|
| [USA](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-united-states/) | 3GB, £10 | 1 GB, £2.99 |
| [Turkey](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-turkey/) | Turkey pass 1GB, £5; EU Roaming Pass XS 2GB, £5 | 1 GB, £2.99 |
| [Albania](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-albania/) | EU Roaming Pass XS, 2GB, £5 | 1 GB, £3.99 |
| [India](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-india/) | 0.5GB, £5 | 1 GB, £3.99 |
| [Pakistan](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-pakistan/) | 2GB, £10 | 1 GB, £2.99 |

The GB differ on each row, so none is a like-for-like price. Lyca lists the passes for pay as you go customers; on pay monthly, check your account.

The Lyca pass keeps your Lyca number, so calls and texts arrive as usual. Ours is a second line for data only, so your phone must hold two lines; [keeping your UK number](https://esimworld.co.uk/help/keep-your-uk-number/) shows how the Lyca line stays live beside it. If Lyca already includes the place you are going, you need neither. [Roaming or eSIM](https://esimworld.co.uk/roaming-or-esim/) helps you decide for one trip.

## eSIM on Lyca Mobile: activation and transfer

You order a Lyca eSIM together with a plan, pay as you go or pay monthly. Lyca sends a QR code by e-mail, and you scan it over Wi-Fi (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lyca eSIM activation](https://www.lycamobile.co.uk/en/esim/how-do-i-activate-my-esim/)).

Lyca's page names an iPhone and an Android route. It does not say how to convert an existing physical Lyca SIM or move an eSIM to a new phone. Ask Lyca before you swap handsets. Menu paths are in [how to transfer an eSIM](https://esimworld.co.uk/help/transfer-esim/).

A Lyca eSIM is your Lyca line, with your number. A travel eSIM from us is a second, data-only line. A dual SIM phone holds both, with data roaming off on the Lyca line ([data roaming settings](https://esimworld.co.uk/help/data-roaming-settings/)).

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I activate international roaming on Lyca?

In the 30-country EU Roaming Zone there is nothing to activate: Lyca says your phone connects automatically when you arrive (checked on 24 October 2026). Elsewhere, buy a pass on Lyca's roaming page; it switches on by itself once Lyca's confirmation e-mail or SMS arrives. Keep data roaming on for that line.

### What countries are included in EU roaming?

Thirty, from Austria and Belgium to Spain and Sweden, including Ireland, Poland, Romania, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein. Switzerland, Turkey, Albania, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Gibraltar are not in it.

### Are Lyca Mobile eSIMs good?

We do not rate eSIMs, and Lyca's activation page makes no promise about speed or coverage. It says you order an eSIM with a plan, get a QR code by e-mail and scan it over Wi-Fi (checked on 24 October 2026).

### Is Lycamobile the same as Lyca Mobile?

Yes. Lyca writes its UK name as Lyca Mobile, and many people search for the Lycamobile spelling. This page covers the UK network at lycamobile.co.uk.
