# Lebara roaming: Roam Like Home in Europe and India, add-ons and Lebara Travel eSIM

Lebara includes roaming in the EU, the EEA and India, up to 30GB of your plan's data (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lebara roaming rate finder](https://www.lebara.co.uk/en/roaming/roaming-rate-finder.html)). Under Roam Like Home a plan under 30GB roams with all its data, and a bigger plan with up to 30GB. Outside that zone, in the USA, Turkey, Thailand and Switzerland, you buy an add-on, from £5 for 4GB over 8 days.

This site is not affiliated with Lebara; we sell eSIMs. [How we compare](https://esimworld.co.uk/how-we-compare/)

You may not need an eSIM at all. Going to Spain, Poland, Romania or India on a current Lebara plan, you use the plan you already pay for, on your own number. An eSIM helps above the 30GB limit, or in places Lebara charges for: [the USA](https://esimworld.co.uk/sim-card/united-states/), Turkey, Thailand, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

## Where does Lebara Roam Like Home work, and what is the limit?

Roam Like Home covers EU and EEA roaming plus India, with fair use up to 30GB of data (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lebara roaming rate finder](https://www.lebara.co.uk/en/roaming/roaming-rate-finder.html)). Lebara's Spain page puts it as "All your data if your plan is under 30GB, or up to 30GB if it's over".

The Lebara roaming countries list for the EU zone includes Ukraine and Moldova. The EEA zone holds Gibraltar, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and the French overseas territories (French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mayotte, Reunion). The Republic of Ireland is in the EU zone, as it is included on every UK network.

Two conditions sit behind "included", and neither shows up on the plan page:

- **Activate the SIM in the UK first.** Lebara says the SIM must be activated in the UK before you travel. A SIM that has never connected in Britain is not covered.
- **UK use must outweigh roaming.** A surcharge of 0.20p/MB applies if your roaming over 120 days exceeds your UK use.

Here is the surcharge in numbers, our arithmetic. At 0.20p/MB, 1GB (1,000MB) comes to £2 and 5GB to £10. Spend most of a year abroad on a UK SIM and you break the second rule, so for a long stay look at a local SIM. A fortnight in Krakow or Bucharest against a year of daily UK use is nowhere near the line.

| Place | Lebara zone | Cost on a current plan |
|---|---|---|
| Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Greece | Zone 1 EU | included up to 30GB |
| Poland, Romania | Zone 1 EU | included up to 30GB |
| Norway, Iceland, Gibraltar | Zone 2 EEA | included up to 30GB |
| India | Zone 3 India | included up to 30GB (see below) |
| Switzerland | Zone 4 | add-on, 4GB for 8 days £5 |

Source: Lebara roaming rate finder, checked on 24 October 2026. "Included" means no daily charge and no add-on; it is not a promise about speed or coverage.

For the same countries on every network, see [roaming in Europe](https://esimworld.co.uk/roaming/europe/); all 15 networks side by side are on [UK roaming by network](https://esimworld.co.uk/roaming/). To weigh your own trip, [roaming or eSIM](https://esimworld.co.uk/roaming-or-esim/) walks through the decision.

## Is India really included on Lebara?

Yes. Lebara's rate finder says "Roaming in India is included in our plans". India has its own Zone 3 inside Roam Like Home, with the same 30GB ceiling and the same two conditions (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lebara roaming rate finder](https://www.lebara.co.uk/en/roaming/roaming-rate-finder.html)).

So India included in Roam Like Home means your plan's allowance works there as it does in Leeds, with no add-on. It does not mean the same speed or the same signal. Coverage in a village is a different question from coverage in Mumbai; our [India SIM guide](https://esimworld.co.uk/sim-card/india/) covers networks outside the cities.

Lebara also sells an India add-on, 2.5GB for 8 days at £5 or 6GB for 15 days at £12. That is not a sign India is charged. Lebara lists an add-on for every Roam Like Home zone, the EU and EEA too (4GB for 8 days at £5). Its rate finder shows the India add-on right beside the line "included in our plans". We follow the rate finder: on a current Lebara plan you do not need the India add-on.

[Pakistan](https://esimworld.co.uk/sim-card/pakistan/) is a different case. It sits in Zone 5, so it is charged, not included. A Zone 5 add-on is 1GB for 8 days at £4 or 3GB for 15 days at £12.

| Family visit | Lebara position | Lebara figure (your number) | Our plan, 1 GB for 7 days (data only) |
|---|---|---|---|
| [India](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-india/) | Roam Like Home, Zone 3 | included up to 30GB | £3.99 |
| [Pakistan](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-pakistan/) | Zone 5, add-on | 1GB £4 for 8 days; 3GB £12 for 15 days | £2.99 |
| Poland | Roam Like Home, Zone 1 | included up to 30GB | not needed on a current plan |
| Romania | Roam Like Home, Zone 1 | included up to 30GB | not needed on a current plan |

Lebara figures checked on 24 October 2026. The rows are not like for like. Lebara's add-on runs 8 days on your own number and allowance; ours runs 7 days as a separate data-only line that starts on first connection abroad.

## What do Lebara add-ons cost outside Roam Like Home?

Lebara's add-ons run from £4 for 1GB in Zone 5 to £30 for 2GB in Zone 8, in packs of 8 or 15 days (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lebara roaming add-on](https://www.lebara.co.uk/en/roaming-add-on/p/44000067.html)). Every pack ends "until 23:59 of the last day", not 24 hours after you buy it.

Lebara international roaming outside Europe and India is priced by zone. Zone 4 charges, for example, apply in the USA, Turkey and Switzerland.

| Zone | Examples | 8 days | 15 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zone 4 | USA, Canada, Turkey, Switzerland, Thailand, Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man | 4GB £5 | 7GB £10 |
| Zone 5 | UAE, Pakistan, Morocco, Australia, Singapore | 1GB £4 | 3GB £12 |
| Zone 6 | Egypt, Japan | 1GB £12 | 3GB £25 |
| Zone 7 | Nigeria, Qatar, Nepal | 1GB £13 | 2GB £25 |
| Zone 8 | Lebanon, Namibia, Uzbekistan | 1GB £20 | 2GB £30 |

Buy the add-on before you fly, on your Lebara account. If you forget, pay as you go data outside Roam Like Home is expensive: Lebara's rate finder shows "£93/GB", the same figure in every zone we checked. A 500MB map and photo habit costs you £46.50 at that rate (our arithmetic).

The fall-back is Lebara's own notice. Ofcom's General Condition C3.15 requires a free message when you connect abroad. It says whether the destination is in your plan and what it costs ([Ofcom: using your mobile abroad](https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-and-broadband/saving-money/using-your-mobile-abroad)). Read it before you open an app.

**Turkey:** buy and install your eSIM before you travel. eSIM shops, including ours, may not open on Turkish networks.

## Lebara add-on vs Lebara Travel eSIM vs an independent eSIM

For the USA, Lebara's add-on is 4GB for 8 days at £5 and Lebara Travel eSIM is 12GB for 8 days at £10 (checked on 24 October 2026). Our plan is 1 GB for 7 days, data only, at £2.99. They are three different products, not one price list.

Lebara Travel eSIM is Lebara's separate travel product at [travel.lebara.com](https://travel.lebara.com/uk), sold to anyone, data only, in "190+ Countries" by Lebara's count. In every destination we checked, 3, 8 and 15 days cost £5, £10 and £15; the GB and the 30-day prices change by place. The 12GB for 8 days in the USA and Turkey carries Lebara's "20% Extra Data" promotion label.

| Destination | Lebara add-on: 8 days, your number | Lebara Travel eSIM: 8 days, data only | Our plan: 7 days, data only |
|---|---|---|---|
| [USA](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-united-states/) | 4GB, £5 | 12GB, £10 | 1 GB, £2.99 |
| [Turkey](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-turkey/) | 4GB, £5 | 12GB, £10 | 1 GB, £2.99 |
| [Thailand](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-thailand/) | 4GB, £5 | 10GB, £10 | 1 GB, £2.99 |
| [Pakistan](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-pakistan/) | 1GB, £4 | 5GB, £10 | 1 GB, £2.99 |
| [India](https://esimworld.co.uk/esim-india/) | included (Zone 3), no add-on needed | 5GB, £10 | 1 GB, £3.99 |

Source: Lebara roaming add-on pages and travel.lebara.com/uk, checked on 24 October 2026; Lebara Travel eSIM for Thailand, Pakistan and India checked on 25 October 2026. Every row sets 8 days of Lebara against 7 days of ours, and the GB differ too, so no row is a like-for-like price. The add-on runs on your own number and allowance; the other two are separate data-only lines.

Which one fits? The add-on keeps your Lebara number, so calls and texts come in as usual. A data-only plan, from Lebara or from us, needs a phone that takes two lines and a second eSIM install; [keeping your UK number](https://esimworld.co.uk/help/keep-your-uk-number/) explains the set-up. Lebara Travel eSIM is Lebara's own product and we make no claim about its coverage or speed. Compare the GB, the days and the date, not the brand.

## Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man on Lebara

Jersey and Guernsey charges apply on Lebara, and so do Isle of Man ones: all three are Zone 4, so you need the £5 add-on (4GB for 8 days) or the £10 one (7GB for 15 days). Gibraltar is included as Zone 2 (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lebara roaming rate finder](https://www.lebara.co.uk/en/roaming/roaming-rate-finder.html)).

| Place | Lebara |
|---|---|
| Republic of Ireland | included |
| Gibraltar | included (Zone 2, EEA) |
| Jersey | charged, Zone 4 |
| Guernsey | charged, Zone 4 |
| Isle of Man | charged, Zone 4 |

Source: Lebara roaming rate finder, checked on 24 October 2026.

Lebara Travel eSIM lists no plans for Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man, and our Europe plan does not cover them either. A Lebara add-on is the working route. The full picture, network by network, is in [the Crown Dependencies guide](https://esimworld.co.uk/roaming/crown-dependencies-gibraltar/). On a ferry, a phone may latch onto a maritime network; see [the cruise page](https://esimworld.co.uk/cruise/).

## eSIM on Lebara: activation and transfer

Lebara eSIM activation happens online, with a QR code and a confirmation code or manual entry over Wi-Fi; it is instant, and only in the UK. Lebara's help page says new customers can use an eSIM on iPhone Air only (checked on 24 October 2026, [Lebara eSIM help](https://www.lebara.co.uk/en/help/esim.html)).

To convert a Lebara SIM to eSIM as an existing customer, use the link on that help page. The page also says the eSIM is not for use as a watch companion.

Your Lebara eSIM is your Lebara line, with your number. A travel eSIM from us is a second, data-only line. A dual SIM phone holds both: Lebara for calls and texts, the travel line for data, with data roaming off on the Lebara line ([data roaming settings](https://esimworld.co.uk/help/data-roaming-settings/)). Outside Roam Like Home, calls and texts on the Lebara line still cost what Lebara's rate finder shows. To move an eSIM between phones, the phone makers' own menu paths are in [how to transfer an eSIM](https://esimworld.co.uk/help/transfer-esim/). Lebara UK is not Lebara France: the French site has other plans.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is roaming free on Lebara?

Yes, in the EU, EEA and India, up to 30GB, on a SIM activated in the UK (checked on 24 October 2026). A surcharge of 0.20p/MB applies if your roaming over 120 days outweighs your UK use. The USA, Turkey, Thailand, Switzerland and the Crown Dependencies need a paid add-on from £5.

### How do I activate Lebara roaming?

Activate the SIM in the UK before you travel; Lebara says that is a condition of Roam Like Home. Inside the zone nothing else is needed. Outside it, buy a roaming add-on on your Lebara account first, for example 4GB for 8 days at £5 in Zone 4.

### Can I convert my SIM to eSIM myself?

Only through Lebara. Its eSIM help page says existing customers move over by a link on that page, and new customers can use an eSIM on iPhone Air only (checked on 24 October 2026). Check the page for your phone before you order.

### Which UK networks have eSIM?

Most of them. Of the 15 UK networks we track, 14 explain on their own pages how to get an eSIM; we found no consumer eSIM on BT Mobile's pages (checked on 24 October 2026). On Lebara, new customers can use an eSIM on iPhone Air only, by its help page.
